im leaving the orphanage at about 12 im going to walk to haraka to c atch a matatu (public transport ,small van with way too many people and probably chickens) to go to kenyas capital i have been there several times but this time im going because i have been invited to preach at a church in the city on sunday morning, and i would like to make a short documentary of the ministery of my new friend and sister lillian . She is a kenyan lady that has given her life , time , and resources to ministering to the widows in the slums, here in africa slum is a very nice word for where these people are living and this slum in particular is called , Kibera it is the second largest slum in all of Africa. Last time i was there i learned there are over two million people there and i didnt see one bathroom they are all squeezed into what looks like about 20 acres, wall to wall mud huts and rusty tinn roofing some with cardboard walls. The widows are considered the outcasts of society and are rejected and considered worthless. They truly struggle to feed their children and keep them in school. Lillian is a skilled seamstress or taylor and she has been using her skill to teach widows to sew, making awsome handbags from authentic african materials. She then finds a market for selling them and thus providing some kind of income and accomplishment for these women,, all the while she is discipling them and encouraging them in the lord.. She hosts large siminars and invites all of the women without resources she believes God will provide and he does they are somehow able to feed everyone always... these lives are precios to the father God and through obediance and Gace lillian is abe to reach them with the love that he has for them she has been made strong and dicerning , and constantly asking God for wisdom, she maintains intergrity in this ministery ,despite the attempts of conning ( brought on by desperation) and the obvious danger of being in the slums carrying food and things they desperatly need please pray for her and this beautiful work of God his hand reaching out through her pray for wisdom and protection in this dark land for lillian as the bearer of light
