im not one to show off all the cool stuff ive gotten recently, but one thing ill comment on is that with buying a newer used car and another surfboard both within the last 5 days, i am getting RE-acquainted with driving stick (manual transmission) and familiarizing myself with the dimensions and capabilities of this new board. And in starting just the second week of this school semester, im re-learning what it is to be a student....so much learning going on and in different aspects of my life. i feel like a kid learning to ride a bike for the first time. =) Life is fresh and exciting. and im just taking it all in stride and continuing to grow and evolve as a human being... steady as she goes. Hope you have something in your life to be excited about and to help you grow as an individual. Seek growth over comfort for excessive comfort can lead to complacency and an unwillingness to change. People whose sole goal in life is to be comfortable above all else tend to be focused on acquiring material things to make them comfortable rather than doing things that will make them a better person. I think learning to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations like making mistakes and receiving CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is where people should be if they want to grow. im not saying one should not have comforts in their life; im saying that one should not let the desire for comfort overshadow the drive to be a better person. So in what ways am i trying to grow and it what ways is convenience (comfort) still allowing me grow? im striving to become a better counselor through school. Learning how to effectively ride a new board is challenging; surfing itself makes me a better person and helps me grow as an individual; it feeds my soul and shapes my attitude towards life. Having a car again and being able to drive makes my life more comfortable because i am able to get around more efficiently, but i chose to buy a car with a manual transmission because it requires more of a driver than a car that automatically shifts gears for you, plus driving stick is more fun! Life without challenge would be a dull existence.
