in reading through the recent posts, it seems there is a strong interest in the native heritage of the Eddings family. I believe that our historians have done the very best of research resolving that there is a long ago connection that time and life situations remove us from being eligible for enrollment. should anyone wish to submit their lineage to the Cherokee nation both of the Eastern and the Western nations, they would need to present the documentation as outline at cherokeeheritage.org I would like to share another way to honor this heritage. Learn the language. Both eastern and western dialects of the Cherokee language are available for free online class participation. Both are very welcoming in inviting all to learn the language. Learn the history and how our ancestors may or may not have been involved in the tragedies, struggles and survival of these amazing people. Each of us have amazing stories of perseverance, present and past. Celebrating ancestry does not require documentation, it is by our own actions in the here and now. Visiting the graves of our ancestors is also another wonderful effort to honor our loved ones. If you cant physically go to a cemetery, you can visit them on-line at the findagrave site.
