inShare ‘ANP govt completes various uplift schemes in KPK’ December 22, 2012 OUR STAFF REPORTER PESHAWAR - The Local Government and Rural Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa executed a sum of Rs 10 billion in different developmental projects to improve the existing civic facilities like sanitation, portable water and sewerage system. The Peshawar Development Authority completed several mega projects, meant for provision of basic facilities to general public and improvement of existing civic system in the province during the last four and a half years government, said Bashir Bilour, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, while briefing media persons here on Friday. On the occasion, Khyber Pakthunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, and officials of the department concerned were present. The KP coalition government has launched an awareness campaign through media regarding initiatives and achievements of the ANP-led coalition government in the province during its four and a half years. While giving details of various projects initiated by Department of Local Government and Rural Development Department, Bilour said the provincial government had provided Rs 400 million from its Annual Development Programme, with period of January 2008 to 2011. Under the programme, he informed that sanitation and drainage schemes had been completed in different districts of the province. The department, he said also initiated Community Infrastructure development project CIP-II for provision of basic civic facilities in all municipals of the province. Slaughter houses had also established at cost of Rs 80 million in Shabqadar, Lakki Marwat, Sawardi, Barikot, and Kalachi. An amount of Rs 45 million had provided for construction of a complex in district Chitral, Abbottabad, and Shabqadar, he informed. ANP senior Minister further said the department had provided a Rs300million for establishment of district secretariat at Swabi, Buner, and Swat, while Rs 200 million given for construction of complex at Takh Nasrati, Darban, Alpuri, Puran, Mastuj, Amazahi, Buner, Dargai and Peshawar. “A sum of Rs 1072.9 million had provided by the department for more than 27 urban towns during 2009-10 and 2010-11 under the annual development program”, he informed. He said Arbab Sikandar Khan Khalil flyover had constructed at cost of Rs920million, while Mufti Mehmood Flyover will be completed at estimated cost of Rs 1768 million by end of December next year 2013. He informed that a mega housing scheme “Asfandyar City” was also planned at estimated cost of Rs 1400 million, which will have capacity of more than 80,000 plots with total covered area of 14638. The Municipal Service Delivery Program, he said the project had initiated under joint venture to provide basic civic facilities, for which the USAID extended a US 85 million grant, while the provincial government also allocated a funds of US 13million for the program.
