instagram/p/uL5EzCrP-i/ Same playground fitness pros, completely different sandbox. Its time to think outside the box. Back to basics. Back to simple. Simple is complex and its beautiful how it becomes it... What is fit? What is strength? Where does it start? More importantly, where does it end? Whats sustainable, whats not? What serves its purpose now and what are we willing to pay for it? Who does it serve (our fitness, our strength) us, others, both? Why? I will tender that coordination, balance and flexibility/mobility are physical skill sets/essential qualities (as mentor Dr. Igor Burdenko refers to them) that build a foundation for power, speed and strength as YOU define it, to grow on. Not the other way around. Getting strong, fast and fit doesnt mean youre balanced, coordinated and mobile. But shouldnt it?! I will also suggest that these qualities can be trained sustainably for decades without major expense to your body, joints and tissue. In fact, done well it can preserve them. The pursuit of these qualities will also improve general health and fitness markers, while simultaneously setting the stage for true performance training, and resiliency in all domains. My friend and fellow Burdenko practitioner #taylorkruse touches on this a bit in the link above. We get lured into thinking that fitness is what its marketed to and/or appears to be, its not. Rethink its purpose and the path toward it, spending less and gaining more in your journey. And this is just the physical fitness and literacy pillar. The last thing I will suggest is that physical fitness is of some value, but fitness mentally, emotionally and spiritually is of far more. But thats another story...one worth telling...lets... #reebokone #themovementproject #activprayer #activeight
