interesting battle over the use of diverse drills in training the olifts... heres the original post by a well-respected coach of champion (and even Olympian) lifters, and my comments in the comments following Its extremely interesting to me to see all the people out there now doing things like snatching without a hook, or without moving the feet, or not touching the body and etc. I realize this is probably the result of the advent of Crossfit and with weightlifting people having to come up with innovative (?) ways to sell their wares or make themselves unique in offering their services. But the TRUTH is that these drills really mess up technique more than they help. Snatching, in particular, is a very complex movement in which constant repetition of correct motor pathways leads to refinement and efficiency. Stop doing it a different way and start doing it the RIGHT way. While it is may be fun and interesting to do something different now and then, in lifting it can only negatively affect the delicate neural learning going on when training proper technique.
