interview of Captain Paul Watson Ready for Prime Time in the Faroes I did an interview with Faroese television yesterday. One of the things that it has been difficult to accept for the Faroese whalers is that the leadership against the horrific slaughter of whales are women. Lamya Essemlali from France and Rosie Kunneke for South Africa. They have been doing a wonderful job, Lamya on the water and Rosie on the land. But being the founder of Sea Shepherd and having led some past campaigns to the Faroes, I have become the Sea Shepherd face that the Faroese most love to hate and that is okay with me. Anyhow yesterday I was asked to do a Skype interview by Faroese TV and did so. I did advise them that for future interviews they should speak with Lamya and Rosie. They are there on the ground and on the water and both are articulate campaigners. A Brief History of Sea Shepherd leadership in the Faroes. 1983 - The first campaign initiated and led by David McColl of Sea Shepherd Scotland 1985 - The 2nd campaign led by Captain Paul Watson onboard the vessel Sea Shepherd II. 1986 - The 3rd campaign organized by Ben White and led by Captain Paul Watson onboard the vessel Sea Shepherd II. 2000 - The 4th campaign led by Captain Paul Watson onboard the vessel Ocean Warrior. 2010 - The 5th campaign organized and led by Lamya Esemlali onboard the vessel Golfo Azzurro 2011 - The 6th campaign led by Captain Paul Watson onboard the Steve Irwin with the Brigitte Bardot with helicopter backup. 2014 - The 7th campaign led by Lamya Essemlali and Rosie Kunneke with the vessels Columbus, Thor, Loki, Mike Galesi, B.S. Sheen, Pegasus and Spitfire. And hundreds of international volunteers. The Faroes campaign is now become a global movement, just like the Taiji campaign. David McColl passed away a few years ago. Im sure he would be pleased to see that what he started with one little inflatable boat and a half a dozen volunteers has grown to what is now a formidable opposition to this obscenity called the Grindadrap.
