is asking for prayers. She finally got to meet with her neurologist yesterday to discuss the results of her latest CT scan. From the scan and his assessment of her yesterday, her doctor has determined that she will need surgery to drain the syrinx (bubble of spinal fluid) in her neck. She had this surgery done about 18 years ago, but either the drainage tube (stent) has clogged up or has fallen out, leading to the recurrence of the syrinx. Surgery is scheduled for December 30 and she will probably be in the hospital for one or two days. She has provided a link to explain what a syrinx is, what causes it, and how it is fixed. Please keep her, her family, and the doctors and medical staff at Hershey Medical Center who will be involved in her operation, in your prayers. She has every confidence in her neurosurgeons abilities, but she still gets nervous when surgery is involved. Hopefully 2015 will be a better year. On a positive note, however, she managed to get all As and pass her practicum site for the fall semester.
