is very easy for people to condemn Goodluck Jonathan, after all, - TopicsExpress

is very easy for people to condemn Goodluck Jonathan, after all, it is glaring that the security situation in the northeast is deteriorating, many are hungry but we are told he spent 1 billion naira on his food annually, Nigeria is in a state of war, but the man could travel to Burkina Faso to settle some elite disagreement, Nigeria is broke, but not broke enough to satisfy some cronies greed. This they see everyday and so it is very easy to condemn the man. It is easy to dislike Buhari. He was once anti democracy, he may still be. One could easily believe that he is a fundamentalist, for the simple fact that he looks spartan. He couldnt be so clean as we are told and still be in the companies of alleged thieves, he was once a head of state, what is he looking for? It is easy not to like Atiku, after all he emerged one of the richest former custom boss. He was too ambitious couldnt even wait for his boss to retire, blah blah blah. But me I condemn more, dislike more and hate more the process that produces their likes as our only options. I know that these crops of leaders are only possible under a presidential system. If Nigeria discard this presidentialism, all these crops of leaders will simply disappear. If we are running a parliamentary system, and Goodluck Jonathan is to contest as a member of federal parliament from Otuoke, where he will be contesting against another Ijaw man, another Christian, who may be better qualified than him. The people their will not be voting for sentiments, they will be voting for competence, how many of us can bet he will win? If Gen Buhari is to contest as a member of federal parliament from Daura where he will be contesting against another Hausa/Fulani Muslim, with more energy and vigour. The people there will not be voting base on sentiments, but on competency and relative youths, how many of us can swear that he will win? If Atiku was to contest as a member of the federal parliament, from Mubi is home town, against another Fulani Muslim, do you think by now he would even be thinking about election? I am of the opinion that by now Atiku would be more concerned about the crises in Mubi than winning election in the country. Considering that the speaker, the prime minister and other ministers must come from members of the parliament, how many of the faces we see today holding us captive can actually win membership of the parliament talk less of becoming cabinet members and chunning out insensitive policies? There many men and women who could frog leap this country to where we actually belong. People who could make the achievements of Singapore and Malaysia a child play. I believe that Nigeria actually has no business with poverty and crises. Apart from being blessed with the human resources to lead Africa, the country is endowed with natural resources that should make us the envy of the world. But these men and women may never be opportune to steal enough to be relevant. If you think our problem is leadership, discard this presidentialism, and we will start having a brand new set of leaders!!!! # SUPPORTPARLIAMENTARYSYSTEMINNIGERIATODAY - Tijani Adisa Gadani
