it is a pity that there is a body of religious affairs which does - TopicsExpress

it is a pity that there is a body of religious affairs which does seem rather to go against the spirit and letter of the separation of religion and state, and perhaps the specific mention of the Yazidi religion as being a recognised religion implies that some religions might not be recognised, or that it is the business of the state to recognise specific religions. There is no specific right not to hold a religious belief or to change ones belief, although that may be indirectly implied by the recognition of international treaties and covenants. With those qualifications, this document is one of the most exciting and hopeful documents to have come out of the region for a very long time indeed. Out of all the horror, something wonderful seems to be springing up. Thank you, Iain Simpson, for this great link. kurdishquestion/kurdistan/west-kurdistan/the-constitution-of-the-rojava-cantons.html
