it is not uncommon for chronic pain patients to experience mild - TopicsExpress

it is not uncommon for chronic pain patients to experience mild depression lasting a few days in regards to severe pain or severe fatigue. However if you find yourself avoiding phone calls and texts from friends, avoiding social situations, having angry outbursts, sleeping for extended periods of time day and night, changes in appetite, the inability to perform basic household chores, attend to personal hygiene, profound sadness...you may be suffering from severe clinical depression. Clinical depression is a disease and it is best treated with a combination of medications and therapy...not one or the other: but a combination of both therapies. From experience, it is hard to see family or friends struggle with long-term depression. Other people dont know how to help, after a while the self imposed Isolation actually keeps friends and relatives from coming around. Its a disease and a highly treatable one at that. Think about help, it will take some work, it will take some time...but you are worth it.
