it is time to dust off the umbrellas as we will move into a rather extended, unsettled pattern. Temperatures overall this week will remain above average and there will be several opportunities for scattered showers. Today will be mostly cloudy and mild with highs in the upper 50s-lower 60s, but areas across the Plateau and S.E. Kentucky should actually see temperatures fall off into the 40s by sunset as the cold front slides through those areas. There will also be some scattered showers associated with this slow moving front with areas to the west more likely to see the rain first followed by a slow progression eastward through the late afternoon/evening hours. The front does not make it too far to the east tonight, but we will see some slightly cooler air filter in tonight into Tuesday. With this front still lingering across the area Tuesday, we will hold onto the cloud cover and some spotty rain chances; especially early in the day. The opportunities for rain will be a little lower by mid-week as highs climb close to 60°, but a more significant cold front will raise the opportunities and coverage of rain as we go from Friday afternoon into Saturday. This unseasonably mild pattern looks as though it could stick around until at least early NEXT week, meaning NO sub-freezing temperatures are expected for a while. Today: Mostly cloudy with 40% coverage of scattered showers; especially P.M. High: 64° Monday Night: 70% coverage of scattered showers. Low: 44°. Tuesday: Clouds linger with 40% coverage of spotty showers; especially early. High: 56°.
