its a strange thing watching peoples lives unfold on facebook of late....yes, it would seem that the majority of friends about my age are all in the process of shipping their kids off to some dormitory or another. some are heading north, some east....some are heading near and some are going a long long ways away. some too, are offering to be willing to accept the ultimate sacrifice in order to serve our country. I guess the thing is time stops for no one.....and fair enough......I for one just wish, since we cant get time to stop....it would at least slow down. so much of young life is spent making some mistakes....its how we learn, and mistakes are made by everyone on a multitude of levels to get that knowledge....but when things start to settle down, and you finally start getting things right...time seems to speed up. its hard to believe that it was 25 years ago that it was most of us that were making those life decisions....where to go, whats next.....who will I be? I guess the hardest part has to be in the hands of the parents sending those kids off...how will this world receive this perfect human you raised? will they be productive? find good friends they can trust? do they have the compassion and understanding they will need to deal with life and all of the scary curves that are coming? yes, you are sending them off but the real test is on you....its a whole new set of baby steps for this baby of yours, and just like when they could barely walk....you want to be there to protect them every step of the way. so....if you are still fortunate enough to have your parents....even if you are not....take a moment to tell them thank you today. all those tears you saw when they drove off from your dorm or you got on that bus to boot camp.....they all make sense now, dont they? time only goes by faster...dont leave those important things unsaid. love you mom and dad!
