its been a long 9 years since i embark on this journey of bodyguarding. Started as a rookies that admired Jet Lee version to an amateur that fantasized Steven Seagal to an experienced MIB wannabe. Looking back the 9 long years and cant help it but laugh at myself. Why? How? When? which till to date I havent had a clues. Some says I am destine for this, some says its in my blood and some says I am a reincarnation of a guardian angel. I dont know. Perhaps the simple answer are accidental an epic in accidental spy movie by Jacky Chan or perhaps its just coincidence or maybe (I admit) I dont have a choice? Newbies always saying its cool to be a bodyguard, its cool to have sidearm, its give you chance to drive sports car, to go travel. Meanwhile the veteran will tell them stories of how they neutralized a bomb, bomb??? how they fight 1 vs 5, how good they can shoot, how they do it in the Special Force or how they fought in the army, so and so, who and who, what and what, where and where... more often Ill just walk away (which why they labeled me as arrogant) thinking if I have the chance will I embark on this journey? apart from bloodied fist, broken nose, broken ribs, itchy trigger finger, overly precaution, paranoid, suspicious, homeless, penniless, emptiness... I asked GOD... what next? then only then I decided to attend course upon courses just to prove that I am NOT qualified, to prove that I am NOT worthy, to prove that its AGAINST my own will nor conscious to be a so called self-trained bodyguard (which I prefer to be called Personal Assistant or modern day Butler). I was baffled by their teaching method (which doesnt fit in the picture) and Modules (which have no common sense) and Tools (Powerpoint & Youtube) but lacked the real case scenario....... Mental Strength, Street Smart, Communication and worst of all they are not taught how to use their BRAIN!!! right mean right no question ask, protect means serves as bullet catcher... all the show off maneuver, all the aggressive approach (you touch me I kick ur butts, you threaten me I shoot you) Furthermore the lack of practicality of the job (wearing sunglasses in a nightclub?) and the meaning of pro-activeness (no sir I dont carry bags coz I am a bodyguard). Recently I attended a job interview. I was told that they need a professional bodyguard and I asked them how many has they terminated so far? 9 out of 12 was terminated within 3 months periods. I asked how do you defined professional? He answer cheekily, looks professional!!! including wearing a suit and sunglasses in broad day light? and he shown me a picture of US Secret Service... this is professional!... my last question before I rejected his offer... how much you pay? Proudly he says basic RM1500 for beginners... (and you are looking for professional bodyguard?!!!) shows me 1 professional bodyguard and I will show you 10 monkeys in tactical suits including some clown that wear balaclava and kevlar fisted tactical glove in shooting range... If that is so called professional Im planning to quit and sells McDog burger infront of my house or apply for stuntman job FULLTIME... soon... real soon...
