its interesting, i like this trailer, the editing still had its foot in the aesthetics of earlier (and in my opinion more creative) era. Yet most of the comments and reactions and opinions from the newer generation of comicon-ites call it shoddy and poor criticizing the lack of music and other things. I disagree. I like the way the music is spotted, I like the editing and sound design, its far more effective. What is is wrong with this situation? What is wrong with this picture? This is exactly the turning point in the late 80s where we had a final gasp of the old aesthetics transforming into the new. I point this out to display how reality and perception was slowly manipulated and altered over the years and how the late 80s was a crystalized moment in time for this hijacking of reality. Not entirely dissimilar to the way Star Wars in the late 70s (a good movie) ushered in the mindless cannibilizing blockbusters, Batman (not really a good movie but had its merits) ushered in the next wave of endless mindless addlebrained comic book overkill. People blame Lucas and Spielberg and all the others but dont blame them, those first few blockbusters of the 70s & early 80s were good, creative, ambitious, original films for their time, blame the way REALITY was manipulated. Its the aesthetics and the brainwashing of those new aesthetics that disturb me the most. This shift in reality had taken its firm hold by the end of the 80s and you can see the old and the new commingling for a brief time, and the Batman trailer is an interesting example. Ultimately this brought us to the revolving door era of endless recycling and cannibalization of mindless moronic garbage but thats another discussion
