its summer time and everyone wants abs i get it. I like to look at the abs as revealing them rather than getting them. everybody already has them so it just cones down to making them pop. heres a few tips. 1. abs are made in the kitchen. lets get that outta the way. 2. there is no such thing as spot reduction for fat loss. So doing a ton of sit ups isnt going to burn belly fat. 3. going with point 2, that means the best exercises to reveal your abs are exercises which burn the most fat. think big, multi joint exercises which require larger muscles. for example squats and deadlifts are perfect because they literally use almost all your muscles as well as force your abs to work in order to stabilize you. 4. like another muscle the size of your abdominal muscles can be increased as well. remember the function of the abs is to crunch or shorten the torso. so think of exercises that bring belly button towards your ribs. exercises which bring your legs towards your ribs or focused more on developing your hip flexors so really concentrate on shortening your torso during ab exercises. 5. use resistance if you are able to. doing 100s of situps will not stimulate type 2 muscle fibres (the type that can grow bigger) and instead only work type 1 fibres which are mainly involved in endurance and stability purposes. aim for 15-25 reps or 45-60 seconds per set.
