its that moment when a long-running tv series comes to an end and you dont know what to do with your life anymore. How I Met Your Mother season 9 finale. Been a part of their journey for 9 long years. The reason why I love this show cannot be explained in words. Technically, yes, it’s a perfect blend of humour and romance- the quintessential sitcom about a group of friends. But it was also so much more. I fell in love with the characters- all of them. From the loveable Ted, to the independent Robin, to the adorable Marshal and lily, to the legendary Barney Stinson. They weren’t perfect. But they all had their individual perspectives to life. And they learnt the basic lessons the hard way. With them, so did I. The little tidbits and scenes. The bro-code. The playbook. Mclaren’s bar. Robin Sparkles. the pineapple incident. the tramp stanp. the song about suits. slapsgiving. blitz. Shellfish. Dopplegangers. the yellow umbrella. I could go on and on. Each of them more awesome than the other. they made the show simply magical. The catch-phrases. Legen-wait for it- Dary. Son of a beeech. Suit up! Nobody asked you Patrice! hi five. They’ve set a benchmark for other sitcoms to reach. No amount of words and sentimental statuses will be able to encapsulate the feelings I have for this show. They made me laugh. They made me cry. They made me swoon. They made me think. They gave me hope. They changed my life, with each episode and each season. So after the finale, there’ll be no more episodes to look forward to. no more love-struck antics by Teddy westside. No more crazy Justice by lillypad. No more stupidity by Marshmallow. No more struggling with feelings by Ro-ro. And no more theories of pure awesomeness by Barn-man. It’s the end of an era. I’m going to miss this show so much :’( but needless to say, when I grow up, I’m gonna tell my kids the story of how HIMYM made my life better. And that story is going to be Legend- wait for it -Dary.
