its throwback thursday, ill take u back to an awesome saturday in say 1976, late january, at Piqua Armory, inside, say 6am, we have made our 3-5th trip down with supplies for PACK...Piqua Antique Car Klub, me and dad would measure and tape off and mark names on the swap spaces, then i would be helping to set up 3-4 coffee makers, dozens of boxes of dougnuts n hotdog buns n such, im setting up the Charlies Chips metal racks, say 8 of them with 10cent bags of chips, eating every 49th one for my efforts. placing snickers n zero n babe ruth bars in a row on the counter, eating say one outta every box, rememeber, i was a skinny kid till 3rd grade, the smell of coffee is mixed with the smell of old car parts/grease/cigar +cigarette smoke and after shave from Bud Clement+Leo Razor+DIck Woods+Bob Gibbons+Bunny Don Bundschuch+ any of the Anderson men. almost brings a tear to my eyes as to how awesome those times were. as i was almost done in the kitchen, i would help dad set up some of our stuff, and as we were finishing, Bud Clement would offer me a ride in his Isetta car, (some call it an Erkle car) and we would bring in his chairs on that last trip in. i would then settle in helping any and all vendors, most we knew, ferry there purchases out to their trucks with my wagon, some paid me quarters n such, i did get a $2 bill once, and with that i would by snaps, the throw on the ground explosives, u know, as long as it didnt pop in yer eye, it didnt hurt anything, then i would ride my trick bikes around , my swing bike, mono shock, and hi wheeler. once it got daylight and warm, i would ride in and out when they opened the big door. i was king of the armory. had my cap gun and real pocket knife and my keys, hey, i ran that place. me n Brian Eric J Malone, Gregory Heath Anderson Chris n Eric Anderson the Albaugh boys, Allenball boys, Kim Hildebrand-Oldham, The Dutchmans daughter (never rememberd her name) and a few assorted others would NEVER have to be yelled out to more than once to go help, and the most trouble we got into was sliding our tires in the main floor. after it was all over, we would sweep the floor with brooms wider than a car, and sometimes i got to ride my bike full speed and slide sideways on the slick concrete.....yeah, THOSE were the days. well, ive past my self imposed 8 minutes in teh morning at the fb site.....yall have a great day. Peace and Love from a SATURDAY CIRCA 76
