"it’s equally remarkable now how we’re still not only faced with the overwhelming percentage of Caucasian actors in television shows, but an overwhelming number of Caucasian critics discussing them. It’s easy to look at “Lucy Is Enceinte” and laugh about how worried network executives were about incorporating Lucille Ball’s real-life pregnancy into the show. But it’s not any easier for us to watch “Kingfish Sells A Lot” now, even with decades separating its initial airing and our viewing. In fact, the experience of watching it is so overwhelming that it’s easier to simply ignore the show rather than confront the ramifications it presents. To look at Amos ’N’ Andy now doesn’t provide comfort in knowing how far we’ve come. Rather, it reinforces how little progress has been made."
