ive recently become more aware of the multnomah county shelter in troutdale, because that is where i finally found chico, the lost dog of my building handyman (and his unwitting 9 year old son). i was so excited to find 14 year old chico - a small white/brown terrier/basenji mix who is small and super sweet, because the dad was so upset that he was lost. well, i dont know what happened between then and now, but i was supped to take him out there and havent heard from him again, and it appears that he doesnt plan to go retrieve chico - maybe its a financial issue? although they will put you on an extended payment plan of $5 a month - i dont know, i just know that chico needs a good home, and that he is super sweet, and that i cant take him, although i wish i could. if anyone would like a super-mellow partner who doesnt take up a lot of space, chico is going to be up for adoption soon - with tags, shots, etc. - clean bill of health! if you have any ideas please let me know. im really upset - i dont understand someone abandoning their pet after they find out hes in a shelter. chico looks a lot like the dog in this picture - hes #555645 in lost animals at multcopets.org. :(
