jameswhitlowdelano.photoshelter/#!/index/G0000rE7w2xU06bU NEW STORY: Japan’s Post-Tsunami Seismic Woes: 4 Years after the Tohoku Tsunami, Japan is still rocking and rolling. In October 2014, Kobe University researchers, Yoshiyuki Tatsumi and Keiko Suzuki, declared that it was not an overstatement in saying there is a 1% chance that a colossal volcanic eruption in the next 100 years on the island of Kyushu could immediately bury 7 million people there and create a toxic gas and ash cloud making this nation of 127 million people uninhabitable. Ontake Volcano erupted, out of the blue, on the 27th of September 2014 on a perfect autumn day becoming the most deadly eruption in over a century, killing 57 and 6 are still missing as winter snow ended recovery missions until spring. Then within a week of each other in November 2014, one of the world’s largest volcanoes, Aso Volcano, erupted and the mountain village of Hakuba was hit by a magnitude 6.7 earthquake leaving experts, and not a few residents, worried that Japan has, well and truly, entered into an era of increased and possibly dangerous seismic activity, and what effect would it have on Japan’s economy.
