just added some stuff to my website...for what its worth... Adapt or Die There comes a time in your life when you no longer believe in, nor trust your own opinions. There comes a time when you realise it is time for a change. That time has come. I have to adapt to changing circumstances in order to move forward; to broaden my horizons, and indeed, what little influence I have on my own future. For too long I have been fairly trenchant in my views and have been only too prepared to put them out there for all to see. I have frightened people away with my attack dog approach...with my righteous didacticism. Less hectoring, more discussion is needed, I feel. I need to become more circumspect, more like a politician (to never have an opinion, to never let people see what I think, to lie and dissemble, to be two faced) only joking...even I couldnt be that big a cunt. For too long I have played safe and surrounded myself with like minded people. I really do need to be seen to broaden my horizons (the reality is that they have always been uber broad, just not apparent). I move within a very small, self selecting group of friends, It is preaching to the converted. It achieves nothing in the long run; the very people I need to be talking to are conspicuous by their absence. To that end I am moving towards a sort of entente cordial...or indeed, more accurately, an unholy alliance with others in the arts game. My views havent changed: I will always loathe what I perceive as pomposity and cant...(including my own) but I will try, really really hard, not to let it get to me quite so quickly. Reigning in of horns is called for here, methinks. After all everybody knows art bollocks is actual bollocks, they dont need me to keep reminding them. As a product of the Art School system in this country I would defend the rights of all arts organisations to produce and disseminate their ideas and work however they see fit. It has to be so, otherwise we will never move on. I also reserve the right to smile wryly at their efforts... Here endeth the lesson...for the time being anyway...the master has spoken...tosser jb
