just another moment. • The sky was dark but neither suffocating nor encompassing. The sky this particular night seemed to embody some sixth sense, or rather some sense I had never encountered before. There was a sense of discovery, a sense of newness, a sense of escape in this particular night sky. There was music playing on my bedroom stereo that had all kinds of new spewing forth. That music was noisy, distorted, and cacophonous. That music was the new My Bloody Valentine album. I honestly thought the tape I bought was warped and needed to be taken back. Upon further listening, I realized the distortion and sonic manipulation was, in fact, intentional. It was at this particular moment in the space/time continuum that I realized that music was not a passive art form. I had the option to both engage and match the energy put forth, or shirk in response and become a passive victim. I had no choice but to engage. My life’s path was set forth at that exact moment. I have become a student of the art form and as such, have had many extraordinary life experiences based on my studies.
