just been watching a film about kids growing up in the sixsties and it reminded me of the things i used to do back then running around building sites , walking along the shore of the thames mudlarking , building camps in old buildings , playing on bomb sites amoungst the glass ruble barbed wire ect ,rideing home made bikes put to gether from several other old bikes , climbing trees ,playing out till it got dark .getting filthy dirty coverd in mud and getting a clip round the ear for it sitting outside the pub on a sat night with a bottle of pop n a bag of crisps going down the shop for my mum for a loaf n a pint of milk going down the park to the playground which would be full of kids playing games walking home from school on your own , sitting on the kerb reading the latested issue of your favourite comic with your mates ,going car washing on a saturday afternoon/ sunday morning to earn some pocket money going to sat morning pictures where every seat in the cinema would be taken and i thought of the kids lives today NEVER being able to go anywhere on there own ,to go for a bike ride they now need lights ,high vis vest ,helmet knee pads ect ,never going to play in the park , haveing to get a list of health n safety forms to go or do anything that has the slightest danger to it , being driven everywhere by scared parents who think that there kids are going to be stabbed ,robbed or kidnapped by child molesters ,living in steril clean inviroments scared of germs n dirt and i have to wonder kids might be cleaner , richer , healthier but are they happier ??? im not sure
