just heard a powerful sermon by Dwight Nelson titled Mercy Came A Runnin : In the sermon he states obedience WITHOUT LOVE IS WORTHLESS...many of us take principles or wise counsel and esteem it as the law of God.....the fact of the matter is its far from WHAT JESUS WHOULD DO!!!.....Need should always be over Creed (is a statement of the shared beliefs of a religious community)!!... Martin Luther’s prayer: “‘May God of His mercy preserve me from a church in which there are none but saints. I desire to dwell with the humble, the feeble, the sick, who know and feel their sins, and who groan and cry continually to God from the bottom of their hearts to obtain His consolation and support.’” (Quoted in Great Controversy 191)...... There are times where MERCY must stand up over the Church Manual....we must over-ride the letter of the law....not that we may become LAWLESS but that we are never to become LOVELESS!!......he quoted EG White, who said, IN REFORMS WE WOULD BETTER COME ONE STEP SHORT OF THE MARK THAN TO GO ONE STEP BEYOND IT.AND IF THERE IS ERROR AT ALL, LET IT BE ON THE SIDE NEXT TO THE PEOPLE.......Christ ALWAYS sided with the NEED of the people.....HE KNEW THAT WINNING 2 or 3 souls was more important than Creed.....we win our arguments but we lose our communities.....We prove our arguments until the point there is NO longer a community to prove it to....this loses sight of the need of the people! Pastor Wright states, Pharisees ALWAYS get it backwards....they ALWAYS elevate creed over need until the love of Christ is non-existence!!!
