just returned from Planning Committe where I spoke out against the dropping of the proposed new Moseley Medical Centre for the Meteor Ford site , Moseley, Birmignham. The Planning Committee approved the Marks and Spencers food hall and the dropping of the condition insisting on the new medical centre. The developer said that the doctors and the NHS have until December 2014 to sign. After that the deal on the medical centre is off. The Planning Committee Councillors said that developement cant be held up by the NHS.....and these were Labour Councillors saying this. Locally two out of three Labour Councillors ( Councillor Claire Spencer and Councillor Lisa Trickett ) didnt even bother to make a comment on the application. Councillor Ernie Hendricks before his failed to get re-elected in May 2014, at least objected to the application. The third Labour Councillor for our area - Councillor Martin Straker-Welds sits on the Planning Committee. He was there today and just rolled over in favour of the developer and voted in favour of the M&S food hall and dropping the condition insisting on the medical centre. Quite a depressing day really.
