keen to improve your orienteering....Club member Matt Radford has suggested you try routegadget; Matt has uploaded the first Summer series event at NBHS to routegadget (routechoice.co.nz/gadget/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi) . This is a website where you can add your own and view other peoples route from orienteering events. It is great for improving your route choices, which is of course very crucial during sprint events. You can either add your route manually (instructions: routegadget.co.uk/…/competit…/how-to-draw-a-route) or with a GPS watch/device. When your doing this, please add why you choose a particular route choice or where/why you made mistakes in the comments section. This is handy as it enables you to look back on past events and see what you did and also to see why people went certain ways. The more people add their owns routes (especially GPS ones) the better. This video explains how you can view and compare peoples different route (https://youtube/watch?v=5osiINZFdSo). Or you can just as easily have a play and try clicking all the different options. Matt will try an update all the future orienteering events within a day or two of the event. Its best to add your route as soon as you can after the event as then its more fresh in your memory. So what are you waiting for!! get drawing/ uploading and improve your orienteering!!
