l just heard that there was a military coup in Lesotho now. God forbid, but l wont be surprised if it happens here anytime soon, given that the requisite conditions are ripe as Nigerian Armed Forces are not loyal to the president anymore, the soldiers dont respect and obey orders of their superiors, top generals dont trust and loyalty of their men again, in fact they cant just go visiting any formation without risking assassination and mutiny, judging from the Maiduguri encounter of a GOC who was shot at by soldiers. Only last week some soldiers resisted deployment to war front to combat BH in Borno state, and the ones that obeyed merely crossed to Cameroon for sheltering. Meanwhile during the period the soldiers refused and dodged fighting them, BH has claimed two towns and declared their authority as the paramount ruler under their newly declared kingdom (caliphate) and promptly converted a Police barracks to their training camp. Very soon, buoyed by this success, they will claim Borno, Yobe & Adamawa states the ISIS way. Aside that there is clear disunity and division along ethnic lines in our military now, that is part of the reason why southern soldiers wont want to go die for BH cause, and northern ones are not interested in the combat because they are compromised and have ideological sympathy for BH. We are very close to the situation under Aguiyi lronsi in 1966 when he had no power of command over northern soldiers. lf Nigeria survives intact under Jonathan, it will be a miracle. Nevertheless she will not be the same old happy united family again. lf he too survives ruling the nation whether for one or two terms, and retiring in peace to his village to live happily ever after, will also be a miracle. A Yoruba proverb says: Adiye ba le okun; ara o ro okun, ara o ro adiye (When a chicken perches on a rope, neither the rope nor the chicken will experience peace)
