l-sit hold on horizontal bar is one of the components to doing a l-sit pull up. the l-sit hold is a static exercise that trains the core through the engagement of it by squeezing/tensing the abdominal (abs/stomach), glutes (buttocks) and quadriceps (front thighs). it is also a form of active stretch for the hamstrings if the legs are fully straighten out while one squeeze/tense the quadriceps. at the same time, it also helps to train the shoulders by dead hanging on the bar which is first movement when one is mounting onto the bar. the aim is to be able to perform the l-sit hold for the same duration as one is able to perform pull up. this is just my opinion form my own experience and learning through the internet, people and books. it is not a professional advice.
