last week we lost the promising young life of Karyn Washington, the founder of For Brown Girls and #DarkSkinRedLip to suicide. I didnt know Karyn personally, but wed spoken online a few times and I was a fan of her work. Too many in our community silently struggle with depression and mental illness out of fear that they will be judged. Ty, from GorgeousInGrey wrote an incredibly moving piece about her friendship with Karyn and understanding how depression played a role in her life, and ultimately in her passing.
