The mid palate is broad and gentle but with a crisp and defining finish. secondo Ravioli with porcini (mushroom) stuffing and Sicilian pesto sauce Accompanied by: Awaroa Syrah 2012 (Waiheke organic) A full-bodied wine with complex aromas of pepper, creaming soda, vanilla and dark plum. Velvety tannins combine with layers of pepper, vanilla and dark chocolate on the palate. terzo “Paccheri” (traditional large neapolitan pasta) with Neapolitan meat ragout Accompanied by: Awaroa Requiem 2012 (Waiheke organic) Lovely ripe cabernet with blackcurrant and mint on the nose. Layers of ripe dark fruit, with powerful tannins on the palette. A complex wine great structure and a long lingering finish. quarto “Pesce verza” (fish of the day with crunchy very thinly sliced red cabbage) Accompanied by: Waiheke Road Reserve Chardonnay 2013 Wonderful aromas of ripe stone fruit, apricot and white peach, with butterscotch and almond on the nose, with good oak balance. Great mouth feel and concentration on the palate.
