lets talk custom billystix rod weights & why!!!! i hope you guys enjoy this because it took me a while to get this done but i believe it will be of intreast to you & give you some insight in just what i do & why & how!! what i am about to show you are 3 basic casting rod grip set ups so that you can see for your self the weight changes in all selections this way you will a least know or now have some basic knowledge on why or if you want to go one way or the other!! 1st i am going to show you the most common set up that is used normally & it is for the most part the best as far as comfort & every day use!! 2nd is one type of split grip reel set up that in my opinion is the 2nd most sought after in regards to comfort & use!! 3rd is the very lightest & it is the least sought in regards to comfort due to the fact that the rear grip is a little less in size both in diameter as well as length!! now as far as it being the least sought after this is a misleading statement because if you place this set upp on say a 6ft6 or even a 6ft8 billystix texaswaderstix & balance it nicely you are going to have a fishing feather for the all day wade!! wait until you see the weight now bear in mind i have plced 3 metal rings on these set ups which if left off down goes the weight!!! i know i am not speaking to the body of the crowd but there is that one weight freak out there that is just chompin @ the bit to find that fishing feather also remember leave off the thread work on the butt end & down goes the weight again but not enough that you will ever know unless you place the rod on the scale!! what you have to decide in your choice is what am i looking to achive when i ask stix to build me a custom rod??? then just ask because as you can see i can go from 3,8 down !! now 3.8 balanced is a very pleasent weight for a 7ft custom rod what would these same 2 that we are looking @ be if they were 6ft6 i think 3 oz please look this over & i really hope you enjoy this & i hope that you will share this with your friends & fishing assc. because this is just some good fishing stuff. stix
