letter to Amnesty international 17 يوليو، 2013، الساعة 06:34 مساءً After the military coup that took place in Egypt and ousting of the freely elected president, millions of people went down to the streets around Egypt to show their support for the democratic process that came with Mr. Morsi as a president. The violent behavior of the police and army forces against those demonstrators was shocking, and gradually became a fact in Egyptian every-day life. Violation of the right of expression is wide spread. Arresting of hundreds of pro-Morsi demonstrators, unfair treatment and torture in police stations and detention places is a normal practice. Courts of justice are being held inside prisons and stations of detention under the total control of the police and army forces in order to issue arrest warranties against those who are already arrested previously. This is not a normal practice in the Egyptian judiciary system, and the purpose is to legitimize these illegitimate procedures. The guards doesn’t let lawyers go in to help and defend arrested people. President Morsi has been under arrest since the military coup took place until now, prevented of coming in contact with his family and lawyers. I feel deep concern about his personal safety and put the whole responsibility of this upon the army, and especially General Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the coup leader. I’m an Egyptian citizen and demand: - The immediate release of president Morsi, and that Amnesty international and other organizations concerned with human rights would be allowed to meet him and make sure about his health, personal safety and that he receives eligible treatment as the president of Egypt. - Independent inquiries about the unjustified violence against the peaceful protesters that took place in Cairo the 5th, 8th and 15th of july 2013 and resulted in mass- killings among them. - Amnesty international and other organizations concerned with human rights to be allowed to visit prisons and stations o detention in Egypt to secure the human treatment of hundreds of Morsi-supporters that are obviously arrested because of their political opinions.
