Most of us can identify with them, but scripture goes a little deeper and reveals their problem: Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God (John 12:42, 43). Their real issue wasnt fear; that was just the symptom. The issue was that they preferred the approval of men rather than the approval of God. Thats our problem when we are concerned about rejection or were afraid of looking foolish. We care more for mans approval rather than Gods. Shame on us if we are ashamed of Him.
