livingwaters Someone told me that his son was doing a book report on Out of the Comfort Zone, and one incident in particular made him laugh. It happened back in 1989. I was unaware that I was preaching the gospel in the place with the highest murder rate in Los Angeles. One of the drug addicts in MacArthur Park advised me to preach with my back to a tree, to cut back the likelihood of being stabbed. Heres what happened: A few days later while I was giving out sandwiches, I told the crowd not to take more than one. If they had received a sandwich, they were to ease off and let others take one. If they took two, they would be depriving others of food. Standing behind me I noticed a heavy-looking man reaching out his hand for a sandwich. I couldnt believe what I saw: tucked into his coat pocket was one I had just given him! I had told them that they were to have one each. I felt angry. Other people were hungry, and he wanted more. As far as I was concerned, this was the height of deceit, and there was no way he was going to get another one. So I turned to him, pointed to the sandwich and bluntly asked, Whats that in your pocket? He snapped back, A knife! to which I politely replied, Here, have another sandwich.
