…love does parade itself, is not puffed up; 1 Corinthians 13:4: (ESV) People who are “puffed up” want to brag about their accomplishments and tell others of all the important people they know. However, God’s love does not parade itself or its accomplishments before others. If we allow God’s love to operate in us, when we are tempted to proclaim our accomplishments, love will say, “No, do not do that.” When we are tempted to draw attention to our accomplishments, we must allow God’s love to flow. The Bible says we are to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and in due time He will exalt us (James 4:10). Jealousy often comes when we are outdone by someone else. There will always be times when it seems someone else has greater gifts and accomplishments than we have, but there will also be times when it seems we have more than someone else. But the love of God is only concerned about one thing: What does Jesus look like? God’s love treats everyone the same. It is not threatened by someone with greater accomplishments than ours, nor does it become puffed up because of our own accomplishments. Instead, it realizes we are nothing without Him.
