made a fishermens special tonight. The recipe was created by Leonard Cardinal a long time fisherman on the lake. I gave a share to my brother Sam for his supper. Leonard would take a Dutch oven and layer pork chops, canned peas and a can of tomato soup undiluted and black pepper in the pot and slow cook it over the wood stove all day. He made it in the winter time so that when they returned from the nets at dark, the place was scented with this mouth watering smell of goodness. He shared the recipe with us after we stopped at his camp one winter hauling fish and tasted it. Loved it ever since. So i thought today was a good day to make a meal in honour of our fishermen. Miss that man and the many fishermen including my Dad, who have gone on and left so much behind. Their legacies live on. Thank you Creator for fishermen.
