main number. This is part of the proposed Corker-Hoeven amendment to the approximately 1,075-page immigration reform bill. (CNSNews) - The Senate will vote Monday on a five-part amendment to the approximately 1,075-page immigration bill that would legalize illegal aliens and eventually allow them to become citizens of the United States. The text of the amendment has been posted on the website of the Senate Judiciary Committee--and part of it is presented in illegible handwriting scrawled across the margins of a page in the draft bill. In his weekly address on Saturday, President Barack Obama urged Americans to contact their senators and tell them "now is the time to pass this bill"--even though it has not yet been fully presented in legible type. The amendment was offered by Sen. Bob Corker (R.-Tenn.) and Sen. John Hoeven (R.-N.D.). The section of the amendment scrawled on the page posted by the Judiciary Committee deals with how the Federal Emergency Management Agency will allocate grants to local law enforcement agencies in border states that have to deal with the impact of illegal immigration and drug smuggling. The Senate is expected to vote on the full immigration bill by the end of next week. It would allow more than 11 million illegal aliens in the United States to eventually become citizens. "That’s why Republicans and Democrats, CEOs and labor leaders, are saying that now is the time to pass this bill," Obama said in his weekly address. "If you agree with us, reach out to your Senators and Representatives. Call your Senator, let them know your thoughts. Vota is Monday. This will hurt everyone of us.
