man what a great time! congrats to all finishers of the 50k and 100k...there was some serious heat out there, but it was unmatched by the tenacity and willingness of the finishers! Trust me, I have had several vets to the ultra scene comment about this being a very difficult race, so be proud of your accomplishments! Great job to the 3 100k finishers, Ed Melancon, Terry Sullivan, and Laura Yeatts. They all persevered to the finish, and got in within the last 30 minutes of cut-off! Jennifer Cecil and Pat Thomasson persevered til the end, just short of the 100k finish, both getting in 5 loops. The winner this year of the 50k was Derek Dowell, coming in right around 5 hours. First female in the 50k was Joanne Begg in about 5 1/2 hours...congrats! Results will be up soon, hopefully with splits...we are working through those that dropped down to the 50k from the 100k...stay tuned! Of course, this could not have been possible without the help of our sponsors and volunteers..Fleet Feet Jackson, Rock/Creek, Parks Family Dentistry, Pennington Honey Farms, 5 Girls Garden, Whitney Advertising, Mississippi Blues Marathon, and of course Butch Ard and Choctaw trails! Volunteers worked tirelessly all day to try and make for a great event!
