many of you have asked for us to share our vows here, so i am copying the program we wrote... Wedding Ceremony for Christopher (Chris) S. French & Jeffrey (Jeff) A. Trumbower Sunday, July 14, 2013 Facilitated by Sarah Joslin, JOTP [have starter candle lighted] SARAH RINGS TIBETAN BOWL….wait for tone to subside SARAH: we are gathered here, this circle of friends, in this house and home, To share in this joyous day With Chris and Jeff. To share our love and support As they continue on their journey of love and life. [Chris lights candle] The flame of this candle represents the light and joy you bring into my life. [Jeff lights candle] The flame of this candle represents the light and joy you bring into my life. CHRIS: Jeff, for 19 years we have shared our lives together. We have shared: The romance of the storm resounding across the Lake. The joy of playing tourist & leaf peeping in Vermont The spirituality & wonderment of India The passion atop the Eiffel Tower And the serenity & beauty of the majestic Alaskan mountains. You have: Taught me patience Given me stability And brought joy into my heart. I love you. I am blessed to have you in my life. I look with happiness toward The future we will make together, And the journey we will share! JEFF: Chris, for 19 years we have shared our love for each other, As well our lives, hopes, and dreams. We’ve shared a passion for current events & travel; And you’ve taught me so much! From gardening & plants, To food & nutrition, to animals and fiber. You bring so much richness to my life! But, most important, You have created a loving home for me. A place I can always turn to where I know someone loves & cares About me in the depths of his being. Now we enter a new phase together of deeper commitment. Where I get to say in front of these witnesses how much I love you and How much I look forward to our new adventures together! [Chris & Jeff light single Unity candle together w/ their candles] SARAH: as you light the unity candle together May your relationship remain strong, as you grow in happiness, joy and love. May the strengths, hope, and dreams you share guide you on your journey. [The rings] SARAH: Chris and Jeff will now rededicate the rings they have worn for many years, shifting from their right hands to their left to celebrate our society’s new recognition of full marriage equality for all. The circle of the ring signifies the circle and bond you complete as a couple. [put rings on each other] SARAH: by the power vested in me by the great State of Vermont, I hereby pronounce you married! You may embrace your spouse! [Pause] Let us, this group of friends, join hands and gather around Chris and Jeff in a circle, to bless them with our love and support.
