maybe its just a #facebook thing. i cant help but note the 1,000+ artists that have asked me to like their page, enjoyed my shares of their music, even been played on my show and promoted after the fact, that have never bothered to like Matthew Meadows Music or Rangounmuzzled. not worth one click. the number of artists that have been on the show that have bothered to like the posts when they roll out is even smaller. those who share it or comment on it is even smaller than that, because that requires a click and typing something (or copying and pasting what i wrote, presumably even easier (??)). reciprocation is not required, that would make me a social media whore working for nothing, just #shameful. ( we have no ads, nor censors, nor income. we pay to bring it to you for love of art ). but lack of reciprocation is less fun and duly noted. a rising tide lifts all boats, but well never get anywhere if we dont paddle together coherently. If we all pull together as a team. - roger waters, have a cigar i have literally bought music from artists, posted photos and videos of them, played them on my show, spread their signal to thousands of people encouraging listeners to buy their music with glowing compliments permanently archived in google, and never heard back from them. not a vesper, not a whisper. is it that you dont like the show? too busy? never thought about it much? new to #facebook? some people dont like the show - #plagus thats fine. its ok not to like the show. its ok not want to be on it, its not for everybody. its [seemingly] random and full of obscure humor crossing music, technology, social media, politics, mood disorders, my life as a musical (TM) and the #seattle music scene, gently medicated and slightly touched. it tends towards the course rather than the fine, and is decidedly unbalanced because its [usually] just me. point in fact: the shows with my co-hosts and guests are my personal favorites -> JC Flow Patrick Kindy Jonny Smokes Joel A Heslop Garth Hockersmith Jenn Findley #themistress ( ...etc ) its ok not to like the show. just let me know, no hard feelings. you wont be on it anymore, you wont be mentioned. its just business, there are literally millions of artists to sample from to find one that would be happy to take your place in an obscure artifact of the internet of now, the #internetofthings. nature abhors a vacuum - conventional wisdom the world needs a hero - into the snow III (unreleased) #specious #statistics: the radio shows have received ~200,000 plays on Fandalism, this year, about 20% of my total hit count there. thats a non-trivial number of listeners that crosses international borders, time zones and cultures, archived permanently, all the way back to episode I. those play counts grow every single day, with no upper bound, continuously trending upwards, slow and steady wins the race. averaging 50,000 plays a week there now, so figure 10,000 plays a week for the shows. thank you, pud, maker of #fandalism. for the skeptics: even if the actual numbers were 1/10 of that, they probably exceeded the capacity of your last club gig. based on the number of public and private comments im confident thats not the case. the good news? they could easily be 10x more. how? not factored into these specious statistics: hits to audioburger (thousands a day), listeners of the live show (??), listeners on the spreaker channels, listeners from freelanced, listeners that pipe the show into their bars(!) or share their downloads with their friends. ( notes additional distribution channels but chooses to keep the #rant #somewhat short ) keep in mind, this is only one facet of the operation. your songs can migrate from my show to Tom McNeils show, Addictions and other Vices Podcast, the Nervecast Show, or god forbid Pete RingMasters show, like an infection. they could get stolen by other internet DJs and played on their shows and we , #missionaccomplished ( and maybe thell play my music on their shows, too ). thats what we do here. the #indiemusicwar is a federated conspiracy to float your boat. which side of the billions are you on? this message is not for: Hal Jester Budd Zunga Pete Davis Joe Funktastic Ben Badenhorst Jack Mustard Tim Hearn Katsumi Yoshihara Kara Johnstad Barry Digitalskunk Burford Sabrina Pena Young Matt Young Joe Gande ...or the rest of you who know youre in that list, that have bothered to like, share, or reciprocate in some way. its not too much to ask - mona i dont waste my time asking for likes, thats stupid and pointless as Simon James White so eloquently pointed out today (hes been on the gets-it list since day one). instead i try to tell you you should like it in every post, and include something cool to go with it: your content. maybe its a #facebook thing - the opener. dont ignore me - #rangothedog, operation rango: check 1,2
