message to the new mds and parents: Congratulations new drs and proud parents.welcome to the beautiful world of medicine..no other profession for me,this is the most noble title and the most fulfilling.noble means a lot of sacrifices,selflessness and dedication to service the sick and the discovery of cures if u are going to be in research and unselfish sharing to teach colleagues and students.. Fulfillment in most instances sad to say is not going to be getting wordly possessions..and for those very few who will enjoy the blessings of earnling much..this is just the beginning of more years of harder studies,training is not going to be easy..it is going to cost you more years of deprivation fr quality time wth family n loved ones..more expense esp if you will like to live like how a dr should do meaning having your small car because you will be on call anytime of the day or you have to rent a place near the hosp where you train except if you are lucky to be absorbed in a hosp wth quartrs for resident mds..i am telling this because i know of parents who have drs sons who complain to me i am still spending a lot for my son even if he is already old and a doctor at that..i am one of those parents so i know how they feel..our new drs,you just entered into a new chapter of your life where there will be no celebration of special events wth your family..no birthdays,no christmas,no holidays wth your loved ones..you cannot complain because that is how it is going to be for the nxt 4 or 10 years more depending on what field you choose..those who decide on earning already by getting into duties in hospitals which are not accredited as training hosp..brace yourselves for even harder times,more challenges and even more frustrations for you and your parents.just imagine how much or how low the take home pay and the long hours ,days of duty you have to render esp if that hospital has no other doctor or very few drs..a friend complained to me once you know,my kumares son is sending money already fr abroad and i am sooo inggit.laki na ng ginastos ko sa anak ko na doctor pero wala pa..hirap pa rin pati kami..samantalang maginhawa na ang kumare ko na employed na as medtech ang anak sa USA.Laki ng pagsisisi namin sana tama na yon medtech sya..i replied hindi naman po sa pera ang fulfillment ng most drs..masuerte ang iilan na naging kagaya ni vicky belo na yumaman talaga as a doctor..but then tanggapin na lang natin na pinakamaganda pa rin ang pinili nio ng anak mo ang pagiging doctor..sa title man lang okey na..imagine mo ha..pag yon anak mo ay mangungutang,chances are mas mabilis ma approve ang loan kapag doctor ang magapply for loans.this is because we doctors are expected to be more responsible and honest in paying our debts..and we dont turn our backs to duties even at the expense of our lives...just some thoughts to lessen the frustations of parents whose children are now new doctors..mabuhay ang mga new doctors!you are the new heroes of mankind!!!
