minor alps tour typing: had fresh crabmeat on the beach in brighton / played at the bermuda triangle, a club under the promenade that looks like a tunnel / seadog opened up with beautiful harmonies, a little reminiscent of gillan welch and david rawlings / really fun sunday night show at the islington in london / spoiled by the kind owners / iskender, a new band that includes my cousins alex and rob, played before us and did really well, songs sounding great / my friend kerry devine (ace singer and songwriter from peterborough) drove me to the hotel in gatwick, along with her piano player nathan, playing early dylan at high volume most of the way, nothing like it, miraculous / remembered reading about woody guthrie telling dylan that his songs werent much but that he sure could sing, the inverse of what everyone else was saying / played rotown in rotterdam last night, fantastic place, stayed right across the street, what could be better? / now driving to berlin / at a truck stop ten minutes ago we were getting back in our white van when a maroon van pulled up full full of long-haired youngsters, we thought must be a band, and if theyre not, they should be / they waved, came over and said hi, it was herrek, who are supporting us all through germany and the remaining dutch shows! / an hour ago were were flagged over off the autobahn and into a parking lot along with a dozen other vehicles, loads and loads of policemen checking everyones papers / almost like a convention, lots of milling about, sun shining / loosely organized, we were asked where we were from and what we were doing by three different officers / learning we were musicians, one asked us to play a song, we said it was a little early, figuring he was joking anyway, but now, for whatever reason, kinda wishing wed taken him up on it / just crossed into what used to be the corridor to berlin across east germany / on we roll…
