more weird coincidences in the making of Sea Change...this time the installation is hung in a huge figtree, and I finally got round to looking up figtrees and found this: Gobabeb was formerly a Topnaar community called !Nomabeb, which means place of the figtree. Gobabeb conducts research in the fields of climate, ecology and geomorphology. Further it tests, demonstrates and promotes Appropriate Technologies. By conducting training courses Gobabeb aims to improve the public awareness and knowledge of dry land ecology and environmental issues. -they specialize in climate change and reversing desertification ;) so Gaias guardians, [the Gorgons/the African warrior queens] are calling for a reversal on climate damage and return to more caring ways in a tree which named a place that now hosts Namibia/Africas leading climate change research... also, Leonardo da Vinci made a famous mixed-media head-on-a-shield of Medusa on a buckler, made from...figwood.. ;) all roads lead to Rome, but I have had some very strange coincidences turn up on the journey of this piece...
