morning all its match day and villa v city a match that always during the early 90s which were crackers , under McGhee after brian littles departure is prob the best along with citys wins there under martin oneill, even peter taylor got a great fa cup sucess ther aswell! in the time he was manager. now i dont normally get drawn into the plastic fan debate! as were all fans in the end , but i was asked to look into the 2008-09 season and the league 1 adventure, and it was very interesting rows and rows of empty seats in sections, you could say the true fan who went week in week out! only went. So where have these new fans come from , the championship season of 09-10 we also had low attendances till it looked like we were heading towards promotion or the play offs, The promotion bandwagon or just people who are more prudent with their money and want entertainment and to see the big game , you get it all clubs, but now were in the prem and your getting the big teams, well they really do expect value , not the league 1 fans who followed city, who follow for love! Are the club to blame aswell raising sales with boasts of weve 180m for transfers , the new fans buy tickets based on that! and when it goes wrong they feel cheated! and abuse flies at manager and players! under peter taylor i can remember some nasty events in the kop as city fans comfronted fellow fans and under micky adams aswell! villa home where fans threw programmes and nuts mags on pitch after villa hammered us 5-0. . the club also stamped on the loyal fans by offering new people the first season tickets which were available, a bad move in my opinion. lessons i hope will be learned for next time we hope if we do go down season end, but i dont think the money men care for the loyal fans anymore, but they will god forbid if we ever return to league1.
