most cities in the nation send tons upon tons of hardwood street - TopicsExpress

most cities in the nation send tons upon tons of hardwood street trees to biomass, the dump, or at best to be cut up as firewood. in the past couple of years i have tried my hand at grabbing up some of these trees, taking them to local mills, drying them and using them in projects, at work. photo one is a ginormous black walnut that i took to mill last week. (this hundred year old tree died last year, and has a 36 diameter base. the tree stood over a road, so a homeowner requested its removal). the second photo is my buddy hal borg milling up an english walnut that had a similar fate. in photo number three, Maud Macrory Powell and tom were kind enough to let me install a chestnut stringered staircase with aforementioned english walnut treads into their new bedroom. amazing that most of this wood is destined for the dump or biomass. pretty stoked on the new hobby.
