mr. cosbys swan song as an entertainer, the cosby show, was genius, jordan, the exclaimation mark on the audience of his entertainment greatness. it came during the 80s. so much going on. i used to always wonder why he started each episode with everyone dancing and him...not dancing. but, as a master entertainer, that began as just a comedian, that was part of his job. service, if you will. he not only did it, he did year after year after year. found a variety of ways on how to reach us all as people in our homes. our homes. shared love with us through television. there are negative interpretations some could draw from that segway. as it was some form of blackface in motion. what came before, like the brady bunch or different strokes and after with modern family or family matters...they still bow to this. idk a person...who gave more to his own people and others as much as bill did. obviously, an exaggeration as i actually know of more than a few. too few still, though. however, our maestro is still giving. old, gray, some rudely say too wound up, agitated by his tenacity of purpose, clouded by age. but, he realizes his time is almost... its urgency even as the world has been moved on from what he was and still can influence. affect. demonstrate. if we go and watch every back show...he wasnt saying, do it like me and us. he was only showing us possibility and excellence in that. for us to see. example. that that could be done as african americans. or, just as americans as well. the dance was a gesture of respect and gratitude for our viewership and support in allowing it to last as long and spread as deep into and far as it did. symbollic reverence.
