She used to like to test my suitors by making them drink Candian Mist drinks with whiskey and a wave (her word) of ginger ale. If you could hang, you could come see Aline any time you had a problem, call her at 3 am, she was there. If you couldnt, god help you. Either way, you were sure to be treated to stories about people in Maine who kept their developmentally disabled in cellars (true or not, the verdict is still out if that was for shock value), or our inbred French Canadian roots. Everyone married cousins back then, wasnt like you could travel around. Hysterical, embarassing, larger than life, she was the only person who took care of me from the time I was a baby until she drew her last breath. She wasnt perfect, but none of us are. RIP Mom. I still miss your Shepards Pie.
