music for sleep. this ones been nagging at me for a while. My mom still feels queasy when she hears Simon + Garfunkel - when she was pregnant with me, my Dad apparently listened to Bookends repeatedly, and it has had an unintended effect. The last I heard, even after all these decades, their harmonies still invoke an instinctive remembrance for my Mom of being morning sick while carrying me. This is such a shame, such a tragedy, and certainly on some level, totally my fault. It sucks, because this is such lovely music. Beauty and longing. I was never much of a folk (slash) folk/rock guy, but Simon and Garfunkel are magical. Also Nick Drake, Cat Stevens Tea For The Tillerman. It doesnt matter what genre youre talking about, some things just eternally transcend. My son is currently only really into grunge (even bad grunge), and that is totally my fault. I have not made a concerted effort to broaden his horizons, but the moment is now. He also needs Possessed, Beethoven, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, New Order, Bauhaus, Buddy Guy, Little Sparrow, Bolshoi, Jesus Lizard, Vangelis, Pearl Bailey, Black Flag, so much more. Sorry Mom, but I need to buy my boy a copy of Bookends. Just the beginning. youtube/watch?v=gAoArleLZEk
