myxomatosis is a disease effecting rabbits both domestic and feral. It is transferred via mosquito, fleas and direct contact with an infected rabbit and is starting to effect a few rabbits lately. It was released in Australia back in the 1950s and was reported to take the wild population from an estimated 600 million to an estimated 100 million in just 2 years. How ever the rabbits that survived had built an immunity to the disease and females that gave birth to young past the immunity to them also. The effect it had now is minimal as a control method but as the immunity dilutes through the generations it will become somewhat more common to see.
